Bunker shots are one of the harder shots to play in golf, but they are even harder if you do not have an understanding of how to play the shot or how the club works in the sand.
Setup is important in the bunker as it makes the hitting of the shot easier.Widen your stance and have some flex in your knees so you are lower to the sand, leaning into your left leg so that you have 70% of your weight on your left leg.You should also have the ball forward of centre. Setting up like this will help you make a descending hit on the ball.
It is important to ensure that when you begin your takeaway, you should hinge your wrists and have a long takeaway. The important part of the shot comes in the downswing. For the ball to go up in the air, you need to hit down behind the ball. Finally, make sure you have a follow through, or you will find that the ball will not travel very far.
